Health and Human Services Department ‘bomb threat’ in Washington DC sees three buildings evacuated

A BOMB threat at the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) has prompted evacuation from at least three buildings in Washington DC, according to reports.

An alert was issued by the HHS about the thread at around 9.40am this morning at the agency’s Humphrey Buildings in the heart of the nation’s capital.

Email alerts were also sent out to Capitol Hill staff informing them that the O’Neill House Office Building and the U.S. Botanic Garden had also been evacuated.

A HHS spokesperson confirmed in a statement that there was a “bomb threat received” at the department’s main building and, “out of an abundance of precaution”, it was evacuated.

There has been no reported incident and authorities are currently monitoring the situation along with officials from the Federal Protective Service, the statement continued.
