Ross Brawn Suspects Mercedes Dominance on Red Bull F1 Territory in Mexico & Brazil

The United States Grand Prix was a surprise to Mercedes, as it is a track that they dominate on. This time around, the Circuit of the Americas favored their arch-rivals, Red Bull.

Now with Mexico and Brazil being the next two races on the F1 calendar; two places where Red Bull are known to win. Managing Director of the sport, Ross Brawn thinks that Mercedes could potentially win there.

Brawn feels Mexico and Brazil might favor Mercedes in 2021

Austin is a track where the Silver Arrows are used to winning, but this time it was their rivals from Milton-Keynes who emerged victorious. Seeing Red Bull dominate a Mercedes-favored track, Brawn feels that the tables could turn in Mexico and Brazil.

He wrote in his blog after the US Grand Prix, “I know from talking to those at Red Bull that they had pencilled this race in as a Mercedes track and one where they had to minimise their losses. That wasn’t the case – but it was close – as it has been all year. And maybe we’ll see the opposite play out in Mexico and Brazil, which are tracks that Red Bull might feel will move to them. This championship has still got an awful long way to go.”

The Silver Arrows hope to bounce back in Mexico

The Toto Wolff-led team tasted defeat once again at the hands of Red Bull. Though they still retain their lead in the constructor’s championship, the gap has been extended by Max Verstappen in the driver’s title against Lewis Hamilton.

With a week off, the Brackley-based squad aims to learn from their mistakes in Austin with the objective of bouncing back at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.
