“Those Numbers Will Be My Standard”: Shohei Ohtani Predicts Bigger Scores in MLB 2022 Season

Looking back at the 2021 season, one player who has stunned everyone with his performance is Shohei Ohtani. The 27-year-old is an incredible two-way player, dominating in hitting as well as pitching.

While his records in 2021 are astonishing, Ohtani doesn’t want to stop here. Ohtani claims he is going to come back even stronger in 2022, keeping his 2021 season as the benchmark and aiming even higher.

Shohei Ohtani wants to level up in 2022

All-rounder performer, two-way star, MVP front runner, Commissioners Historic Performer award receiver, the list of his glories is endless. This is just the start for Ohtani, and in 2022 he has even bigger expectations from himself.

In an interview, Ohtani revealed he doesn’t want this to be his best performance ever. In 2022, he is aiming to get even better and clinch more milestones.

Ohtani said, “I think this year’s record should be the least number for next year. I want to eliminate the possibility of not being able to repeat what I did this year. Also for the team, I should make it happen again next year. Now that I have numerical results from this year, those numbers will be my standard going forward. “

Be it on the mound or on the base, Ohtani has produced a stellar run in 2021. He has had a historic season this year and by his own admission, there’s more to come from the Japanese star.

A look back at Ohtani’s incredible 2021

Being an all-rounder player, Ohtani became the first player in history to clinch 30+ home runs and 30+pitches in a single season. Blasting home runs with his bat, Shohei smashed 20 home runs above 425ft’s.

Notably, he is the one out of five MLB players in history to earn 100+RBI’s, 45+HR, 25+stolen bases in a single season. He also tossed three pitches over 100 mph and smashed a 451-foot homer in the same inning vs White Sox in April.
