Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland has been bombarded with abusive messages since her father accidentally shot and killed Halyna Hutchins.

Hutchins died aged 42 on October 21 after Baldwin discharged a gun on set of his new western movie Rust, killing the cinematographer and injuring director Joel Souza.

It’s said Baldwin was unaware it was a ‘hot gun’, meaning it contained a live round of some kind.

Over the past week, his daughter Ireland has been subjected to trolling on social media as a result of his actions and for her stance in publicly defending him.

In her latest Instagram post, Ireland, 26, wrote: ‘Amongst some of the most abhorrent and threatening comments, emails, text messages, and voicemails I’ve been getting… this beautiful comment stands alone. I know my dad, you simply don’t. I love you, Dad.’

She included an uplifting message from a follower recalling how Baldwin had treated them with kindness.

It read: ‘So about a million years ago I was working in the production office in Toronto of the company that was making the Thomas the Tank Engine movie that he did.

‘I’d dealt with typing up some pretty goofy celebrity riders in my day but NOT your dads [sic]. He only wanted to make sure he had milk and cereal in his hotel room for when his daughter was visiting.’

The supporter continued: ‘That was it. That was the whole rider. I’ll always remember that.’

Ireland has previously defended her dad and posted a message of support hours after the shooting took place.

The model said at the time: ‘My love and support go to Halnya Hutchins’ family and friends [sic].

‘Sending healing thoughts to Joel Souza. And wishing I could hug my dad extra tight today.’

Emergency services were called to the Rust set in Sante Fe, New Mexico last Thursday, responding to reports of two people being shot with a ‘prop gun’.

Hutchins was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead, while Souza was released from hospital after a few hours having received treatment for his shoulder injury caused by the gun shot.

Santa Fe County district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and Santa Fe County sheriff Adan Mendoza held a press conference yesterday where they stated it was ‘too early’ to press charges against anyone as their investigation continues. However, they made clear that ‘no one has been ruled out’ so far.
