How to get Apple Music on PS5 and play it during a game

Apple Music is now available on PS5 and if you’re already a subscriber that means you can play music in the background whenever you want.
Consoles always pick up more and more multimedia apps and features as they go along, allowing you to do things other than just play games, and Apple Music is one of the biggest so far.
Like Netflix and other subscription services it’s not free but if you do sign up to use it you gain access to a library of 90 million songs, music videos, radio stations, and playlists that you can run from the PlayStation 5 dashboard.
Not only that, you can also run the music in the background so that you can still hear it while playing a game, which is going to open a whole new way to play for many people.
How to download the Apple Music app on PS5
To download the app all you need to do is click the PlayStation logo button on your controller and go to the Music icon at the bottom of the screen. There you’ll see options to download both Apple Music and Spotify (which offers a similar service and has been available for a while now).
Downloading the app itself is free but you will need to be a subscriber to actually use it, so make sure you have your username and password details to hand when you start it up.

From within the app you can then choose whatever you want to listen to, from a list of recommendations that match the current game or playlists of your own making or from someone else.
You can also do the same thing with music videos, which start off in full screen mode but will continue to play the audio if you decide to go back to playing the game.
The Music control centre is where you want to go to control everything, so just click the PlayStation logo button and use that if you want to switch songs or turn it off.
If you get stuck there’s further information here at the PlayStation website.
