Kiefer Sutherland is set to reunite with several of his former co-stars from his action-drama 24 to mark 20 years since viewers were first introduced to the one and only Jack Bauer.

In 2001, audiences were gripped as they met Jack, who began the series working within the Counter Terrorist Unit to prevent terrorist plots from causing devastation in the US.

Coming to an end in 2010 – before returning four years later with the limited series 24: Live Another Day – each season of 24 spans 24 hours of Jack’s life, showing high-octane scenes in real time.

Next week will mark exactly two decades since the season one premiere, an occasion that’s going to be celebrated by a virtual fan convention attended by Kiefer.

According to Deadline, he’ll also be joined by several of his former cast members, including Leslie Hope, Elisha Cuthbert, Sarah Clarke, Eric Balfour and Reiko Aylesworth.

Xander Berkeley, Sarah Wynter, Gregory Itzin, Mykelti Williamson, Chris Diamantopoulos, Cherry Jones, Louis Lombardi, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Tzi Ma and Sprague Grayden are also set to join, as they look back on their experiences on the iconic series.

The actors will connect with fans directly as they appear on a screen made to look like the iconic 24 split screen, while they’ll also be joined by notable members of the crew, including co-creators and executive producers Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, executive producer Howard Gordon and Stephen Hopkins, who directed the pilot.

Kiefer expressed his excitement over reminiscing on his time on 24 with the show’s dedicated fanbase, saying: ‘24 fans were the greatest I’ve ever experienced. I can’t wait to talk to you all.’

While it will cost fans to attend the convention, it may tickle them to find out the price of admission, as tickets will cost $24 (£17) each. Nicely done.

Some of the money from ticket sales is to be donated to Operation Smile, a non-profit organisation that supports children living with cleft lip and cleft palate.

A few years ago, it was reported that a prequel about Jack’s life was in development from the show’s original creators.

However, last year it was confirmed that the plans had been scrapped, with Fox entertainment president Michael Thorn saying at the time: ‘It’s one of the most important titles at our network, so whatever we do with it we want it to fell as relevant and as explosive as the original – and that’s hard.

‘We’re all committed to finding another version of it, but only when it’s right.’

24 is available to watch on Disney Plus.
