Michael Jackson’s son Prince has revealed the late singer would have ‘wholeheartedly supported’ the Free Britney movement if he were alive.
Prince, 24, who is the eldest son of the Thriller star, who died in 2009 at the age of 50, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday to discuss the legacy his father had left on his life.
When asked how Michael would view the Free Britney movement, which advocates for Britney Spears to be freed from the conservatorship she has been under since 2008, Prince explained: ‘That’s a very tough question just because I don’t like to put words in my father’s mouth.
‘I can’t say that I ever heard him mention anything about that and obviously this is something that’s really come to light in recent years.
‘But knowing my father and the compassion that he had for individuals who wanted to remain in control of their own life as it was his goal to be in control of his own life, I would think that he would be very supportive of her cause and he would understand the place that she’s coming from, and I think he would wholeheartedly support her.’
Britney, 39, has gained some victories in her conservatorship battle of late, with her father Jamie Spears, 69, being removed as conservator.

She is now hoping to have the rule lifted entirely so that she can regain control of her personal and financial affairs after 13 years.
Britney’s next hearing is due to take place in November and will determine whether the conservatorship can be removed entirely.
Prince also revealed that his father inspired him to do philanthropic work, including hosting the annual Thriller Night Halloween party at the family’s estate.
He added: ‘That is really when I hear my father’s voice the most because those are the times when you struggle the most.
‘You almost wonder, “How can I continue to keep doing this?” and it is during those moments that I hear him, like: “Somebody has to do it, you have to do it, you have to keep pushing forward and it is important that we do this.”
