Deaf actress Lauren Ridloff revealed on Thursday’s Lorraine how Angelina Jolie came up with a genius idea to help her with cues while filming The Eternals.
The highly anticipated Marvel film, which stars Lauren, Angelina and other huge names such as Richard Madden and Gemma Chan, will be released in cinemas next week.
After the film held its UK premiere in London last night, Angelina and Lauren appeared on Lorraine this morning to talk about the new release with host Christine Lampard.
Christine prompted the pair to talk about how Angelina helped Lauren on-set by suggesting a clever solution in scenes where she was unable to use visual cues to know when to speak.
The presenter said to Lauren: ‘I was interested, just in the logistics and how it was for you on set. I know you came across a bit of an issue where you had to face a wall and didn’t know when you were being cued, when was your time to speak?’
Responding through her interpreter, the actress explained how it was a ‘wonderful experience’ to work on the movie, but it didn’t come without its challenges.

She said: ‘It was a wonderful experience actually working on set for Eternals because number one, I knew that it would be a lot of problem solving and opportunities.’
Lauren was experiencing issues in some particular scenes which saw the cast having to face a wall, therefore not having the option of good visual cues which she normally relies on.
She shared: ‘While we were shooting, I was actually talking to Angelina about my frustrations about not knowing when I was supposed to turn because I couldn’t see and there weren’t any opportunities for visual cues and for Chloe [Zhao], the director, the opportunity to tell everyone, “action,” and then turn.

‘I think it was through this conversation I had with Angelina about using a laser pen and ever since I’ve been so thankful to Angelina for that!’
Lauren said she’ll definitely be using the trick on future projects too.

‘Now, I can incorporate that into my daily arsenal on set, on other projects I work on and I just hope other Deaf actors can use that technology also,’ she added.
Lauren also shared just how proud her sons were of her role when they saw Lego figures of their mum’s superhero character.

She added to Christine: ‘My boys were a tough audience! They were not that impressed at first but then I bought home the Lego figures.
‘Both of my boys are also Deaf, they’re both going to have a superhero who is just like them.’
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
