‘They Never Sleep’ – Lando Norris Explains American F1 Fans’ Craziness

After a year’s abscessing of the Formula One calendar, the United States Grand Prix was back. So it was understandable that fans were excited, so much so that they even waited outside the hotel as stated by McLaren’s Lando Norris.

It is reported that 400,000 fans were in attendance for the Grand Prix weekend. While there were 140,000 fans during Sunday’s race at the Circuit of the Americas.

Lando Norris was surprised by the number of fans in Austin for the US GP

After the blockbuster, Netflix series, Drive to Survive took off in the States. It is understandable that fans were excited to see Formula One return to America this season. Norris was shocked to see the number of fans that were waiting outside their hotel.

As quoted by Motorsport.total.com, “That was great. Of course: You drive a race and you are concentrated, but on the warm-up lap as well as on the lap of honor it was amazing to see how many people were there. So many enthusiastic fans!”

How did Norris do in Austin?

The McLaren driver was starting in seventh place in Sunday’s race and was hoping to gain some places as soon as the lights go out. However, the 21-year-old struggled as he zipped around COTA.

As the chequered flag brought the race to a close, Norris found himself in eighth place, taking home four points in the process. Now, with a week off from F1, Norris would aim to make amends in the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.
