Thunder Rookie Josh Giddey Joins LeBron James in Outstanding Feat During Win vs Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder took down the Lakers in their recent game. Despite being down by almost 30 points, they sealed a win. Their rookie, Josh Giddey came up with a big time performance in their 123-115 win over the Lakers. Giddey showcased his playmaking ability to the fullest and put his name alongside LeBron James through his performance.

The OKC showed serious grit in their matchup against the Lakers. Rallied by home support, they did not enjoy a great first quarter going down by 22 points. However, they took all the remaining quarters with Shai Gilgeous Alexander getting hot in the third, dropping 17 points. While he continues to perform at the top level, a young Giddey is slowly making a name for himself as well.

At just 18 years, Giddey recorded a double double in OKC’s win. Also, his playmaking was on point and only LeBron James beat him to this feat.

In the Thunder’s win over the Lakers, it was always a team effort. They played great as a unit in the second half and came back from a 26 point deficit. While the Lakers did fail in their execution, OKC did not give up till the end. Giddey enjoyed a great game with 18 points and 10 assists.

With this performance he became the second youngest player in NBA history to record 10 assists. The only person who did it at a younger age is Lakers’ LeBron James who has missed two games due to ankle soreness. This goes to show just how big of an achievement. However, he may have made the game winning play as well.

While the Lakers were fighting their way to tie game, Giddey made the play to put the Thunder back up. While the Lakers were busy trying to keep the ball out of Shai’s hands, they trusted the rookie to do the job. Likewise, Josh took that role and made the play feeding the ball to Favors. That took the OKC up by 3 and the Lakers failed to score after that.

He came up big time for the OKC, but it could all have gone in vain. While he took them up by 3 he almost gave up the game after a crucial turnover. He took the inbound pass and gave it straight to Carmelo Anthony. However, Melo air balled the game tying three.
