Watch: Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas Go Head to Head in a Hole-In-One Challenge
Getting an ace is probably the best thing in golf apart from winning an event. However, the odds of a pro making a hole-in-0ne on Tour are roughly around one in 2,500. Hence, when a golfer makes it on a professional tour, it certainly is an enormous achievement. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas defied the odds as they took a hole-in-one challenge.
Meanwhile, surprisingly, Rory McIlroy hasn’t had a hole-in-one in his career so far. However, Justin Thomas has had a few aces, including the most famous one at the 2019 Masters on the 16th hole. So the European Tour got these two golfers together and gave them a hole-in-one challenge with 50 balls each.

Two of the best golfers in the world took this challenge at Abu Dhabi on a 148 yards hole. Both Rory and Justin initially had a look at the green and the pin location. Furthermore, Justin Thomas began the proceedings but couldn’t get near the pin location. But Rory McIlroy flushed his wedge shot, which just remained about three feet short from the hole.

After a few unsuccessful chances, Justin Thomas finally got his distance and accuracy to perfection. However, still, sadly, the ball remained a foot away from the hole. Rory went a step ahead, as his ball was inches away from going into the hole. The ball pitched about six inches from the hole and spun back.

Finally, after a few unsuccessful attempts, Justin Thomas became frustrated. “I’m about to pull my dad in here and go for a lesson,” said JT. However, Justin Thomas kept flushing his irons but was always ending up a few inches or a foot short. Hence, the frustration crept up, and JT just threw his club and said, “I’m putting it up there because I’m not hitting it anymore.”
Furthermore, even the Northern Irishmen started getting frustrated and said, “I need a mental reset.” Hence, both these world-class players sadly couldn’t make a single hole-in-one even after having a combined 100 attempts.
