Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan shared a stunning cake gifted to her as she marked the end of her time filming for season 2 of the Netflix show.

The Irish actress was given a huge role to play in season one, and it’s set to get more exciting for Penelope Featherington.

Fans shouldn’t have too much longer to feast on season two as Nicola confirmed on Friday she had wrapped up filming.

Posting on her social media platforms, she wrote: ‘And that’s a wrap on Pen.

‘I can’t wait to share this season of Bridgerton with you, it’s been a complete joy.

‘I’m so proud and so excited for you all to see it. See you in 2022/1814 Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown,’ teased Nicola.

Attached was an image of a very tempting yellow and orange tiered cake, which mirrored her alter-ego’s signature sunny colours.

Fans have already been given some hints as to how the drama will ramp up in season two, which airs next year.

Speaking to Radio Times, she admitted the finale of season two will be particularly ‘heavy.’

‘The drama has amped up a lot,’ she told the publication. ‘As I say, we’re shooting all those big dramatic scenes for the end. It’s exhausting but very satisfying.

‘I felt very lucky when I got given the script to series two, like when you’re an actor in a show already… [and] they’ve just given [me] so much good stuff.’

Fans were left with the big reveal at the end of season one, which saw Nicola’s character Penelope exposed as Lady Whistledown.

Inevitably, it won’t be long until someone finds out Penelope’s big secret, the star recently shared how this plot twist wasn’t originally going to come out in season one at all.

During a panel at the streamer’s TUDUM event, she said: ‘They didn’t know they were going to reveal it in season one.

‘They had changed back and forward a few times, they were going to do a red herring.

‘It was a reshoot in July, so they had filmed a different ending.’

Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix now.
