F1 Twitter Questions the Chances of Saudi Arabian GP Taking Place Amidst Latest Track Images

Earlier in October, Formula 1 set its foot onto American soil for the first time since 2019 at the United States Grand Prix. And, all that remains of the western continent is another couple of race weekends in Mexico and Brazil, before F1 heads back to the middle-east for a brief 3-race stint.

Of course, there is Abu Dhabi, which is now fully functional after undergoing certain changes to the track layout earlier this year.

Similarly, debutant, Qatar is also receiving quite a few revamps to suit the Formula 1 cars, as the Losail International Circuit was initially built to host MotoGP and SBK events. The ongoing work should end as early as mid-November. But, the biggest problem could arrive in Saudi Arabia.

The Jeddah Corniche street circuit, which is prepping up for its first-ever Formula 1 event, is hardly even ready. The latest snaps of the circuit show that the work is hardly halfway complete, and fans cannot believe it. Of course, if the race was due in a year, none would be as shocked.

But, with the Grand Prix hardly a month away, coming across such images tends to cause massive uncertainty over the possibility of the event going ahead.

F1 Fans React to the latest Jeddah circuit pictures

F1 fans swarmed to Twitter to lay out their opinions on the ongoing work in Jeddah. While a few were optimistic of the race taking place, many feared there isn’t enough time in hand for the circuit to offer a complete look by early December.

Here are the tweets!

Jeddah is going to be critical for the F1 championship and the circuit is not finished yet…

on a level looking at those picture of the jeddah circuit has me worried. knowing much slave labour has built that entire part of the globe, i just know these guys are going to be pushed well beyond their limits for that circuit to be ready for fia inspection and the race.

all my school projects and the jeddah city circuit have one thing in common: not yet done even if the deadline is very close

More trouble for the Saudi Arabian GP

Yes, the deadline is near for the Saudi Arabian GP organizers, and each day from now could be highly crucial for the probability of the F1 race taking place. However, they are further a week down on their schedule. Why you might ask?

A week prior to the commencement of the Saudi Arabian GP, the organizers must hand over the circuit to F1, who will, in turn, have to get on with the track work, setting up pit walls and pit boxes, and other temporary constructions required for the race weekend.

So, the organizers must make sure that the track is absolutely ready by the end of November. But, considering the current condition, is that too much to ask? Could there be any late changes to the 2021 racing calendar?
