“Had No Choice”: Naomi Osaka Reacts After ‘House of Games’ Twitch Debut Didn’t Go as Planned

Former world no.1 and four-time grand slam champion Naomi Osaka, who is currently on a break from tennis, appeared to have developed an interest for gaming as she made her debut on the livestreaming platform Twitch to play the recently released survival horror drama titled, House of Ashes. 

The creators of the game, Supermassive games, took to twitter to share a glimpse of Osaka’s reaction as her character appeared to have been killed.

“I’m sorry. I literally thought that, that was like, I had no choice…Oh, no!!!”, reacts the Japanese tennis player in the clip.

Osaka also reacted to the tweet and wrote, “My bad”.

The Japanese tennis player had a tough run on the WTA tour this year post winning the Australian Open crown. Post Melbourne, Osaka couldn’t find her game on the European clay-court season and ended up in a controversy surrounding the post-match pressers at the French Open.

Having withdrawn from Roland Garros due to the unwanted attention given to her decision to skip the pressers, Osaka didn’t find the motivation to play Wimbledon Championships and only came back at the US hard-court season.

The former world no.1 only played Cincinnati Masters in the lead up to US Open and lost to Jil Teichmann in a three-set encounter. Even in New York where she was the defending champion, Osaka lost to the Canadian teenage player Leylah Fernandez in an intriguing three-set battle.

Osaka might call it a season and plans to make comeback at the 2022 Australian Open

At one point during that contest, Osaka looked all set to close out the match against Fernandez but the latter’s resilience in not giving up till the last point helped her bounce back and register an emphatic victory over the Japanese player.

Post US Open defeat, Osaka mentioned that she wanted to take an indefinite break from tennis and didn’t participate in any tournaments so far. The chances of her qualification to the WTA Finals in Guadalajara had diminished after Paula Badosa won the Indian Wells event and got qualified.

Also, Ons Jabeur and Anett Kontaveit are eyeing for the eighth spot in the marquee event. Looking at Osaka’s off court activities, it seems that the former world no.1 will make a comeback next year in Melbourne to defend her Australian Open title.
