Oscar De La Hoya Backs Ryan Garcia After Canelo Alvarez’s Recent Criticism
Lightweight star Ryan Garcia is grabbing mixed reactions from the combat community for his long lay-off since beating Luke Campbell in January this year. He has walked out of two scheduled fights since then. Fans are still unaware of his comeback plans.
While the 135 lbs division is going through a massive turnover, Garcia’s absence can put him far from the title shot.
KingRy’s stablemate Canelo Alvarez has also ridiculed him in a chat with Complex sports. The P4P King, who is looking to appear in his third fight of the year, blamed Ryan Garcia for wasting his immense talent.
Nevertheless, Oscar De La Hoya is still backing his prodigy. The Golden Boy kingpin took to social media and stood beside Ryan Garcia in his tough times. De La Hoya posted a picture of him beside Garcia on Twitter and expressed himself in the caption.
De La Hoya wrote, “There are many times when a fighter cannot step inside the ring due to circumstances which are out of the their control. This is one of those times for Ryan.”

Per reports, ‘KingRy’ contracted an arm injury ahead of his WBC Interim title fight against Joseph Diaz and was forced to pull out. Now, Diaz may directly fight for the WBC world title against Devin Haney, while Garcia will remain out of action.

Ryan Garcia can have a tough challenge ahead
Following this long hiatus, Garcia may enter into a vicious 135 lbs division. A year back, the youngster was aiming to face Gervonta Davis and other A-listers. Now, as more names have entered the ride and as Garcia has slipped in the scheme of things, he needs to earn his title shot again.

He can no longer aim for the below-average opponents and rightfully shouldn’t. However, he may have to beat many opponents who are below him and ensure that he can thwart their hungry challenges. That being said, he is in for a tough time.
