Imelda Staunton is fully embodying the Queen while filming season 5 of The Crown, looking like the spitting image of the monarch while filming outside of a dairy.

In the new season of Netflix’s headline-grabbing drama, Imelda is taking over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, depicting the matriarch of the royal family throughout the 1990s.

This summer, the first official look of Imelda in the role was released, featuring the queen’s signature curls, a brightly coloured ensemble and pearl jewellery.

In new photos captured on set, Imelda, 65, is wearing a multi-coloured pussybow outfit, accessorising with an elegant brooch, a pair of regal white gloves and some retro glasses.

She’s also wearing a smart hat, which has been perched perfectly on her curled locks.

It appears that Imelda may have been filming a scene where the Queen is opening a dairy, with several actors playing photographers snapping her picture as she takes part in a public ceremony.

It’s believed that the scene in question may have been set in Warton, a village in Lancashire.

In one of the images, the Queen goes to pick something up that’s been presented to her on a glamorous red cushion, delicately taking the object with her gloved hands.

In another picture, she is seen seemingly addressing the crowd as a military man stands behind her.

Earlier this month, Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce was spotted filming the drama, with the actor taking on the role of the late Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The 74-year-old was pictured on the Hertfordshire set, wearing a dark grey suit, a patterned tie and spectacles.

Other actors joining the cast as older versions of the members of the royal family include Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Dominic West as Prince Charles and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

It was recently reported that Prince William feels ‘frustrated’ that the show is to recreate his late mother’s BBC Panorama interview with Martin Bashir, after he previously issued a statement saying that he believes it ‘should never air again’.

Earlier this year, it was ruled that Bashir used ‘deceitful methods’ to secure the interview with the Princess of Wales.

The Crown is available to watch on Netflix.
