CM Punk Reveals Where He Would Have Gone if AEW Did Not Exist

CM Punk has made his triumphant return to the world of pro-wrestling in Tony Kahn’s wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling in August of this year. The moment was so overwhelming for fans across the globe that it almost felt like it was unreal; however, it was not.

The reason Punk’s debut in AEW became such a pivotal point in the company’s history is because of the recent bad blood between WWE and Punk, which led the former WWE Champion to leave Vince McMahon’s company in 2014.

In a recent interview with DAZN, ‘The Best in the World’ talks about whether he would turn back to pro-wrestling if AEW was not in the picture and what triggered him to become The Elite.

CM Punk explains his decision to join AEW

Sitting with DAZN, the former two-time world heavyweight champion was asked what made him join Tony Khan’s company and would he have ever returned to wrestling if AEW was not there.

Punk admitted that he gets asked the same questions ever since his in-ring return. However, he detailed everything at the right time and place.

“It’s a great question. One I’ve actually thought about, but I don’t think so it happened at the right time, and timing is everything. There’s a lot of stuff that I had to heal on my own. I’m happy AEW is around now because I really don’t know if I’d have gone there sooner.” Punk said[h/t: WrestlingInc]

Right now, Punk does not have a particular storyline. However, this doesn’t mean he is there just to do exhibition matches for the company; Punk appears on a weekly basis to display his craft and entertain the fans.

All that said, Punk needs a long-term opponent/storyline which can make things much more interesting and just add another feather to Punk’s cap.
