Nate Diaz Demands a Top Fight- Says He Will Not Fighter a Lower Guy in His Final UFC Fight

Nate Diaz has been in the UFC since June 2007. The younger Diaz brother made a mark for himself by winning The Ultimate Fighter Season 5. He has since remained a mainstay in the UFC and has fought some of the very best. Despite being a relatively well-known entity in the UFC, Diaz was never able to command the attention of a crowd as he does now. 

Diaz’s profile in the UFC changed dramatically since his win over Conor McGregor at UFC 196. He has since remained one of the biggest stars in the UFC. However, Diaz is now in the final fight of his contract and has a lot to think about. 

In a recent interview with The MAC Life, Dana White shared his thoughts on Diaz’s contract situation and what might be next for the superstar. He said, “I don’t know. Listen, Nate (Diaz) makes a lot of money. Nate isn’t some guy that doesn’t make a lot of money, like the rest of the guys around here. For Nate, it’s going to be about, you get to this point in your career and you get to a certain age where you have to be honest with yourself.”

White continued, “‘Can I stick around here? Do I want to sign a four-fight, six-fight, eight-fight deal to mix it up with these young, baddest dudes in the world?’ It’s a question that all these guys eventually have to ask themselves. Listen, he makes a lot of money here, he’ll make a lot of money fighting somewhere else too. Do you want to stay and fight these savages.”(h/t bjpenn.com)

Will this be the last time we see Nate Diaz in the UFC?

Diaz responded to Dana White’s comments on his future with a tweet. The tweet said, “I’m fighting top 4 minimum. Don’t be dragging me into your guys deals.” The younger Diaz brother is one of the highest-paid athletes in the UFC. However, the likes of Jake Paul have been calling him out for boxing match for ages now. A fight with Jake Paul will be a mammoth payday for Diaz.

Furthermore, If Diaz does decide to test free agency, there will be no shortage of multi-million dollar contracts from multiple promotions in front of him. It will be interesting to see which route Diaz takes.
