PSVR 2 Might be getting a Backwards Compatibility Feature Like the PlayStation 5

If new claims are to be believed, PSVR2 might support backwards compatibility like other consoles in the PlayStation-branded consoles. A recent claim by a brand market specialist supports the claim that the PSVR 2 will support all the titles from PSVR as Sony tries its best to launch this device soon.

Sony’s PSVR 2 may support games from PSVR

People on ResetEra claimed that all the PSVR titles will work with the upcoming PSVR 2. A related post was made by a brand market specialist called TheNexus. The user is a verified ResetEra member, and his post suggests the new device will support its predecessor’s titles. However, they are not a PlayStation personnel themselves, so who knows how accurate the information is.

Adding PSVR games will give Sony’s upcoming next-gen VR a huge library of games. This will also become an added advantage for PSVR players as they will be able to enjoy the titles like Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Statik, and more on a fresher, next-gen device.

Besides this, Sony is giving out three PSVR games for free with the PS Plus November 2021 lineup, and this very well explains their move for legacy content in PSVR 2. The free games will be available till January 3, 2022.

What to expect from PlayStation VR 2

The PSVR 2 will come with loads of new features. One example is the dedicated motion controllers. These controllers will offer haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, very similar to PlayStation 5’s Dual Sense controller. The PSVR 2 can also be expected to have much better graphics and resolution compared to its predecessor because of the added advantage of PS5’s graphical power.

If the aforementioned claims are to be trusted, the PSVR 2 device will offer a Fresnel OLED screen with 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye, which means 4K with HDR support will be available. It is said that the device might also have an increased field of view with a value of 11o degrees. These features, if the PSVR 2 had it, would definitely make certain games come to life.

As of now, these facts remain unconfirmed, nor do we know when PSVR 2 is going to be released. The potential of this next-gen VR device makes this an exciting affair for PlayStation fans.
