WWE SmackDown results, grades: Shotzi decimates Sasha Banks after Charlotte Flair match

WWE superstar Shotzi made a real statement on SmackDown as she destroyed Sasha Banks.

The former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, who held the gold with Ember Moon and was called up to the blue brand with Tegan Nox before they got split up in the draft, had a chance to raise her stock as she faced Charlotte Flair on Friday night.

The night kicked off with the SmackDown Women’s Champion making her way to the ring, referencing last week’s drama in the title swap with Becky Lynch.

She soon turned her attention to Banks, who interrupted and wanted a title match, which Flair didn’t want to go or – but she instead offered a Championship Contender bout to a new superstar.

Shotzi rode out in her tank and stepped up to the challenge, with the Legit Boss still at ringside for a great match with the fans rallying behind the green-haired star.

She looked good here, and only suffered a loss when Banks tried to distracted Flair, which actually ended up allowing her to hit the Natural Selection for the win.

After the bell, Shotzi was fuming and absolutely destroyed her, battering her in and out of the ring and standing tall after a star-making 30 minutes of TV.

This was a great way to shake up the SmackDown women’s division and title picture, and put Shotzi in a great position – one she should take full advantage of based on the crowd reactions throughout the match and the beatdown.

The New Day beat The Usos, Brock Lesnar gets fined and Roman Reigns isn’t on television

Adam Pearce revealed Brock Lesnar has now been fined $1 million after his attack on last week’s show.

Kayla Braxton found Paul Heyman to ask how his former client Brock Lesnar would respond, which got Roman Reigns’ special counsel riled up as actually ended up defending the Beast Incarnate before catching himself and saying he hasn’t spoken to Brock.

On the subject of the Tribal Chief, it was interesting that he wasn’t actually on Friday night’s show at all (despite appearing in an untelevised six-man tag match after SmackDown went off the air).

Anyway, back to the broadcast and Drew McIntyre came out of the second consecutive open challenge of the night, which was answered by a fired-up Mustafa Ali.

They had a fun exchange but this sprint was a showcase for the Scottish Warrior as he picked up the win with a Kimura.

However, there was more to come after the bell as Ali blasted the fans for rooting against him purely because of his name – and it’ll be interesting to see if WWE sticks with this.

We had a Knighting Ceremony as King of the Ring winner Xavier Woods deemed Kofi Kingston worthy of being The Hand of the King.

They were soon interrupted by The Usos, and the longtime tag team rivals agreed to do battle in the main event.

The Trick or Street Fight was exactly what you’d expect (Picture: WWE)

Before that, though, we had the traditional Halloween Trick or Street Fight match, which pitted Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss against IC Champ Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs.

This was as chaotic as you’d expect, with Moss and Corbin winning thanks to masked ghouls – revealed to be Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza.

Sonya Deville and Naomi continued their well-built rivalry this week as the WWE official made herself the special guest referee for the latter’s match with Shayna Baszler.

She put up a good fight, but in the end Naomi lost to a very fast count and got choked out by the Karifuda Clutch.

Finally, the main event was as brilliant as you’d expect, even if it’s something we’d seen plenty of times before – The Usos and New Day is something that will always deliver.

Xavier Woods got a roll-up win for his team, maybe putting them in the running for a tag team title shot, or simply raising the new king’s royal stock.

*WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
