Midnight Mass star Michael Trucco has not ruled out a sequel to the horror series, saying its ending ‘does lend itself’ to a second season.
The religious horror series has entranced audiences around the world since its Netflix debut in September, and the seven-part thriller has left fans desperate for more.
The utterly unique plot marries the Catholic beliefs of eating flesh and drinking blood with literal, honest-to-God vampires, and comes from the mind of Mike Flanagan, whose chilling credits include Haunting of Hill House, Haunting at Bly Manor and Gerald’s Game.
But in true Flanagan fashion, the chilling series – filled with complex characters, genuine scares and an utterly unique twist – was written as a limited miniseries, with no plans for a sequel.
Despite this, one of the show’s own stars thinks there’s every possibility for a second outing.
Will there be a Midnight Mass season two?
There are no solid plans for a second season of Midnight Mass, but there has been some ‘hearsay and conjecture’, actor Trucco says.
Trucco, who played Mayor Wade Scarborough in the popular series, told Metro.co.uk the reaction to Midnight Mass has been ‘overwhelmingly positive’ and admitted there have been whispers of a second series.
‘It does lend itself, the way it ended, there is a possibility of life beyond’, he hinted.

But he warned: ‘It’s all hearsay and conjecture, and I don’t know anything.
‘But that has happened to other limited series that have had some degree of success: it was meant to be a one-off but there was so much demand for it.’
Trucco, who previously appeared in Flanagan’s 2016 film Hush, added he would do Midnight Mass season 2 ‘in a heartbeat’.
Flanagan and production partner Trevor Macy have the ‘Midas touch’ when it comes to creating films and TV series, he says, ‘and as an actor you dream about a scenario where you can be in a creative circle like that’.
But their intensely busy schedule, with multiple new projects already lined up, means ‘their slate is so full …. I don’t know how they would find the time [for Midnight Mass 2]’.
That being said, Trucco would jump at the chance to do a second season.
‘Would I go back and do season 2? Yes. I would do it in a heartbeat,’ he confirmed.
‘But I would do just about anything with Mike and Trevor. I’m just a satellite orbiting the Flaniverse.’

Still reeling from the ‘overwhelming’ reaction to Midnight Mass, Trucco is also preparing for the UK digital and DVD release of his latest film, Disappearance At Lake Elrod.
The film, first released in the United States under the title Through The Glass Darkly, is a psychological thriller that made waves on the film festival circuit upon its US release in 2020.
This new project promises suspense, mystery, and a deliciously shocking twist; one so smart and unforeseeable, Trucco says, that he immediately knew he wanted the role upon reading the script.
It also represents director Lauren Fash’s debut as a film director, but ‘you would never know it’.
‘I had no idea,’ Trucco said. ‘It’s the best compliment I could pay her, she could be a seasoned pro.’

What is Disappearance At Lake Elrod about?
Disappearance at Lake Elrod tells the story of two girls, who each go missing from the same small town one year apart, but with a disturbing difference in the public response to their disappearances.
Trucco plays the father of Georgia, the second girl to vanish: a rich and prominent family sitting on a fortune, who assume their child has been kidnapped to extort money from them.
Immediately following Georgia’s disappearance, the press, police and public are thrown into a frenzy, leaving no stone unturned in the search for the missing girl.

But desperate mother Charlie (Robyn Lively), whose daughter disappeared a year prior, ‘feels marginalised and kicked to the curb because her case has gone cold, and she’s asking herself “What about me and my family? Why am I putting up flyers by myself?”‘
With the state police searching for Georgia, and Charlie enlisting the help of journalist to find her little girl, the two stories ‘interweave with each other’, Trucco says, eventually coming together in a ‘really great’ twist.
Disappearance at Lake Elrod will be released on DVD and digital download on November 1.
