Real Reason WWE Drafted Gable Steveson to Raw

Gable Steveson stole the show during Night Two of the 2021 WWE Draft. The Olympic gold medalist shocked fans all over the world as the red brand of WWE picked him during the 2021 WWE Draft.

Following the draft, fans started speculating about how WWE will plan to use the Olympic gold medalist. Fightful Select revealed some backstage details regarding this situation. It was not a secret backstage that they will include Steveson in the draft.

According to the report, talent, staff, and production all knew from beforehand that Steveson will be included in the WWE Draft. So, it wasn’t much really of a secret to anyone backstage. Though he wasn’t present during the draft, the internal run sheets had an entrance listed for the Olympic gold medalist.

WWE reportedly wanted a surprise element in the 2021 WWE Draft. So, Steveson wasn’t included in the draft pool imagery. However, there are currently no immediate plans for the Olympic gold medalist.

Gable Steveson has signed a special deal with WWE

WWE signed its first NCAA NIL (name, image, likeness) deal with the Olympic Gold medalist, Gable Steveson, back in September. Every WWE fan is eagerly waiting to see Gable Steveson make his in-ring debut on Raw. But sadly, it has not happened yet at this point.

The deal will allow the Olympic gold medalist to defend his NCAA Division I National Championship and finish his senior year at the University of Minnesota. But, he will be a part of the WWE roster and will undergo training for his WWE career.

WWE has also provided Steveson with a remote training facility where he would learn the WWE style of in-ring action by training with the WWE coaches. Well, Vince McMahon surely has some big and exciting plans for the Olympic gold medalist.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported WWE will make Steveson a full-time performer with WWE once he graduates college in 2022. But WWE will also try to make him appear on TV during the school year. Are you excited to see Gable Steveson battle it out in WWE?
