Rennae Stubbs applauds Serena Williams for her consistency on the court

In a recent podcast, former Australian player Rennae Stubbs lauded Serena’s tenacity and strong will power. “Well, I think what displays Chanda, is the incredible tenacity and will of Serena, because you have mentioned some amazingly great champions. I mean, she did start playing with Steffi, was still playing, they played a few times. You know, you think about that and you think about the fact that she was around, you know, during the Kim Clijsters, Justin Henin periodseeing Anna period, Emily Mauresmo. You know, the list was long,” said Stubbs.

Now a tennis analyst, Stubbs revealed that all the great players who started playing before or with Serena have already retired. Thus, she praised her once again and claimed that it is not easy to maintain that consistency since one has to face many physical and emotional barriers on the journey.

“Jennifer Capriati, I mean, all the great champions that he played against that retired, they didn’t want to keep going anymore. Because it’s I don’t think people understand how difficult it is day in and day out to physically put yourself through it, and emotionally put yourself through it,” added the former World No.64 player.

“Still putting herself on the line”- Stubbs on Williams

In the same podcast, Stubbs highlighted that while all of Serena’s earlier opponents have also hung their racquets including the likes of Maria Sharapova, she is still battling on the court at the age of 40. Thus, in a way, by citing the examples of all the great players, Stubbs clearly hinted that Williams is the G.O.A.T for her.

And that shows you the uniqueness of her greatness to go through all and there’s probably 10 more that we can mention that I can’t think of other top of my head. So I think they pushed her to get better,” concluded 4-time Grand Slam champion.
