Giovinazzi Names the Driver Hindering His Chances of a Dream Ferrari F1 Move

Being part of the Ferrari driver’s programme can be a double-edged sword. It can either make or leave a driver’s career stagnant. Antonio Giovinazzi is going through the same thing, as he hasn’t been able to drive for the Scuderia as Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have taken that role.

Additionally, the Alfa Romeo driver knows that his chances of driving for Ferrari are slim. As both Leclerc and Sainz are part of the team’s long-term plan.

Antonio Giovinazzi doesn’t feel Ferrari dream will come true because of Sainz

The 2021 season saw Sainz move from McLaren to Ferrari, and will be there till the end of next season. While Leclerc’s deal goes expires at the end of the 24′ season. Hence, Giovinazzi doesn’t think he will have the chance to represent the Italian team on the F1 grid.

As quoted by Motorsport.com, Antonio said, “It’s a dream for me to race at Ferrari, but I know Carlos will stay there for a few more years, just like Charles did. I’m part of this family and it’s a great feeling to feel Ferrari’s support.” (Translated from Turkish via Google)

How’s the Italian driver performing this season?

The Alfa Romeo driver has had a lackluster campaign in 2021. The 27-year-old driver had his best finish at the Monaco Grand Prix where he placed tenth, bagging a single point for his Swiss-based team.

However, apart from the race in Monte Carlo, Giovinazzi has always finished outside the points. As it stands, Giovinazzi finds himself eighteenth in the driver’s standings with just one point.

But, with five races remaining till the end of the season, Giovinazzi hopes to bounce back and seize maximum points from the upcoming races. Up next is the Mexican Grand Prix, where Antonio will look to redeem himself after the disappointing United States Grand Prix where he placed eleventh.

What are your predictions for Giovinazzi as he prepares to race in Mexico? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
