Katy Perry aces the Halloween brief as she dresses as a Covid jab and why did we not think of this?

Absolute brilliance (Picture: Katy Perry/Instagram)

Katy Perry served quite the jab over the weekend in a medical-themed costume-come-public service announcement. And we liked it.

Getting into the Halloween spirit by donning a costume not to scare but to encourage punters to get their shots, the singer went as a vaccine. Of course she did.

Entertaining, informative and totally appropriate for Halloween (and any other day of the year, we reckon).

The star shared a series of, er, shots to her Instagram over the weekend as she celebrated the spooky holiday with fiance Orlando Bloom, dressed as a syringe complete with a little liquid drop at the top of her needle.

Katy, who added white socks and blue running shoes in what we can crown only the most cosy of Halloween costumes going (apart from the 3.2million who dressed as characters from Squid Game), wrote: ‘Stay safe guys 💉💦.’

She tagged her location as ‘StandwithFauci’, in a reference to Dr Anthony Fauci who has recently faced criticism around his knowledge of where Covid originated, as well as claims the public health agency led by Dr Fauci funded research studies involving cruel treatment of beagles.

The singer’s partner Orlando was also on theme for the outing, dressed as a doctor prepped and ready to administer a shot of Katy + Perry (a riff on Johnson and Johnson, we assume), in a white medical coat and matching Crocs, of course.

Brilliantly acing the caption as well, he wrote in an ode to Katy’s famous song: ‘I vaxed a girl and I liked it. (sic)’

It was another winning outfit from the celebrities this year, after last year’s Halloween festivities were understandably muted due to the world still being in varying forms of lockdown.

Some went down the glam route, like Perrie Edwards’s fairy outfit, and Maura Higgins channelling Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Others made the occasion a family affair, with John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and Ryan Thomas and Lucy Mecklenburgh all dressed up as The Addams Family – kids included.

And some were just straight-up terrifying, with Megan Thee Stallion’s Hellraiser tribute and Ashley Roberts and Amanda Holden becoming the twins from the Shining reminding that this is the time to go all out on the freak outs.
