Married At First Sight Australia’s Matthew Bennett is engaged to his partner Bella Jameson more than two years after his catastrophic partnership with Lauren Huntriss on the reality show.

The 32-year-old videographer, who was known as the ‘former virgin’ on the sixth series, proposed to his fiancé on Halloween.

Bella shared the heartwarming news on Instagram while joking that the spooky holiday was the ideal day for Matthew to pop the question because ‘there’s nothing quite as scary as commitment.’

She also shared three photographs of the couple looking seriously loved up as they celebrated their engagement.

Matthew’s Married At First Sight co-star Jules Robinson, who welcomed a little boy with Cameron Merchant after appearing on the show, commented: ‘Congratulations!! 😍😍😍’

Matthew and Bella have been dating for more than two years, after meeting at a pro wrestling class shortly after Matthew starred on the show that made him famous.

Appearing on Lorraine earlier this year, he said that although he was unlucky in love on Married At First Sight, it helped him pursue a relationship with Bella.

‘Honestly, I was kind of sincere in that I thought I may be matched with my perfect partner and I might fall in love, but there was a lot of naivety with it,’ he told the programme.

‘It was a trial by fire. I learned a lot and it is because of those lessons that I got the confidence to approach Bella.’

Matthew shot to fame on the reality show with his ex Lauren and they were the first couple to leave the process after he savagely declared he wasn’t attracted to her.

When quizzed on whether he had watched the series back, Matt said it would be ‘triggering’.

‘There are some things better left in the past,’ he continued. ‘I have a theory that this feels like they matched some of the polar opposites and that is where the drama sparks from.

‘I see the wedding as a soap wedding. The amount of times we had to retakes, I don’t count it as a proper wedding.’

Married At First Sight Australia is available to stream on All4.
