In an extremely positive news for tennis fans across the globe, former world no.1 and 20-time Grand Slam Champion Rafael Nadal gave his brief idea over return to competitive tennis as he increases intensity in practice with each passing day.

Nadal was slightly optimistic over his return to the ATP tour and hopes for a better 2022 season.

Rafael Nadal might make a comeback at the end of this year

That’s why I’m working every day and hopefully things will be better and better. I’m positive. I don’t know when I will come back but I can give my goal”, said the Spaniard during an event in Paris.

The Spaniard, who didn’t play Wimbledon and the US Open this year due to the foot injury, might play the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, an exhibition event that will be held from 16th to 18th of December.

The former world no.1 also said that his practice sessions have seen an improvement as it creates hope for long-standing run from the Spaniard next year.

There are positive days and negative days but more positive days”, revealed Nadal on his practice sessions.

After losing to Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the French Open, Nadal decided to opt out of Wimbledon Championships to rest his body after a hectic European clay-court swing.

Nadal slowly hit the practice courts post foot treatment

The Spaniard returned to action at the US hard-court season, where he made his debut at the Citi Open and lost to Llyod Harris in the pre-quarters. Even before entering the US Open, the Spaniard announced his decision to skip the remainder of the season and focus on treating his foot injury.

As the rehabilitation process started, the Spaniard slowly began to hit the courts at his academy and from his present words, there are highly positive signs of seeing Nadal play the Australian Open next year.

Also, the imminent trouble begins for Nadal and Djokovic with the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alexander Zverev likely to make an impact in 2022 Melbourne.
