Rob Gronkowski Leaves Field Early Against Saints; What Happened?

Last night saw Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay suffer a shock defeat against a resurgent New Orleans side. The Bucs lost 27-36 to a completely astute performance from the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately for the Bucs, it wasn’t the only loss of the match, as Rob Gronkowski left the field early.

Last night’s match saw the much-awaited return of Rob Gronkowski to the field. The Bucs TE had missed the last four matches to a rib injury. As fate would have it, the Bucs tight end got injured yet again after being part of only 5 snaps.

Rob Gronkowski re-injures himself again against Saints

Rob Gronkowski’s long-awaited comeback to the field was cut short after only five plays. The Bucs TE had to leave the field due to back spasms in the Bucs’ 36-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Coach Bruce Arians said after the game that Gronkowski, like cornerback Richard Sherman, “probably shouldn’t have played,” but expressed optimism that the defending Super Bowl champions will be able to recover during their bye week.

“He kept begging to get in there and re-injured himself,” Arians said of Gronkowski. Incidentally, this was Gronkowski’s first game since suffering cracked ribs and a punctured lung against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3. Here’s wishing Rob Gronkowski all the best for a speedy recovery!

Bucs injury watch – How did Richard Sherman and Lavonte David perform against the Saints?

Richard Sherman was active for the first time last night since sustaining a hamstring injury against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6. Unlike Rob Gronkowski, Richard Sherman did not get on the field against the Saints. Coach Bruce didn’t risk him and instead used backup Pierre Desir, who played 71 defensive plays.

Meanwhile, Bucs linebacker Lavonte David started against the Saints. Lavonte David had missed the last two weeks because of an ankle sprain. Despite his injury, he looked fresh as he played all 72 snaps and finished with eight combined tackles.
