Strictly Come Dancing’s Dan Walker has finally revealed why he opted to dress as a lobster for Halloween week on Saturday after much confusion.

The BBC Breakfast presenter and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova donned bright red costumes for their jive to The B-52’s Rock Lobster and were awarded 27 points from the judges as well as a place in next week’s show.

But one question on everybody’s lips was… why?

Sitting alongside new permanent co-host Sally Nugent, Dan explained: ‘We don’t celebrate Halloween in our house and I’ve got to say a huge thank you to Strictly because they enabled me to be a part of that programme without doing Halloween.’

Dan went on to say that his three children, who he shares with his wife Sarah, usually would go to a light show rather than trick or treating.

‘I couldn’t go on that programme and be a disingenuous dad,’ he continued. ‘Anybody who’s got children talk to their children about they can and can’t do and why they do things a certain way.

‘I can’t go on there and say do as I say and not as I do, so that’s where the lobsters came from.’

He added that the Strictly was brilliant and Nadia embraced the costume too.

‘I’m very thankful to have made it through to another week,’ he enthused.

Although Dan and Nadiya sailed through to next week, Judi Love and her partner Graziano Di Prima had their last dance after failing to beat Adam Peaty and Katya Jones in the dance-off.

Judi told co-host Tess Daly she had a ‘life-changing experience’ on Strictly.

‘Can I just say I’m taking Graz home! I will keep dancing,’ she added.

‘This has been an amazing experience, a life-changing experience. I want to say thank you to all the professional dancers, the judges, the team, everybody.

‘Graziano has supported me, stuck by me, and took me to a place I never thought I could go and so, for that, I love you so much. Thank you.’

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One and Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
