Will Jon Kent come out in Superman and Lois series too? Actor Jordan Elsass opens up on ‘possibility’

Superman and Lois star Jordan Elsass doesn’t think his character Jon Kent will come out as bisexual.

DC Comics delighted the LGBT community and fans around the world when they revealed Clark Kent’s son will come out as bisexual in the Superman: Son of Kal-El series, and people have been wondering if the CW show will follow suit.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Elsass – who plays Jon on TV – said: ‘That is the comic version of the character. This character is a different Earth, it’s a different version.’

Although he doesn’t think his on-screen alter ego will come out on the show, he refused to totally rule it out in the future.

‘There’s always that possibility, but it’s looking like Jonathan Kent, this version is most likely straight,’ he added. ‘We don’t even know if he has powers at this point.’

There are differences between the TV and comic book versions of the character, the former having a twin called Jordan, while he doesn’t have superpowers like his dad.

However, the comics sees Jon as an only child who developed his own abilities at 10 years old.

Elsass’ comments come after Jim Lee – DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher – also discussed the differences between the two takes on the same character.

He told Decider: ‘We couldn’t be prouder to tell this important story from Tom Taylor and John Timms. We talk a lot about the power of the DC Multiverse in our storytelling and this is another incredible example.

‘We can have Jon Kent exploring his identity in the comics as well as Jon Kent learning the secrets of his family on TV on Superman & Lois. They coexist in their own worlds and times, and our fans get to enjoy both simultaneously.’

Earlier this month, it was revealed Jon will embark on a same-sex romance with friend Jay Nakamura.

His sexuality will be addressed in the fifth issue titled Son of Kal-El, which was released on November 9, after teasing his attraction to news reporter Jay in past instalments.

Jon took over as the new Superman in July after his father Clark decided to focus on other extra-terrestrial events.

Superman & Lois airs on The CW.
