Damian Lillard Reacts to Philadelphia 76ers Fans Chanting ‘We Want Lillard’

The Philadelphia 76ers came into their matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers extremely undermanned. Ben Simmons has still not returned to play, their other star Joel Embiid decided to rest this one out. Unfortunately, they also lost Danny Green to a hamstring injury during the third quarter. However, they still found their way to a 113-103 victory. But apart from cheering Philly on, the fans had other motives in the stands. That’s right, it has something to do with Blazers superstar, Damian Lillard.

We all know that Simmons’ return and trade status is still a mystery. The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to find the best potential trade for Ben Simmons and they won’t settle for anything less than an NBA superstar. Fortunately or unfortunately, Damian Lillard got roped into the trade rumors in the offseason despite being clear that there is nowhere else he’d rather be than in Portland.

But the fans wanted to do their part in trying to convince the Portland Trail Blazers superstar. Since the Blazers were scheduled to visit Philly only this once throughout the 2021-22 regular season, fans made the most of it. When Lillard found his way to the free throw line in the first quarter, the arena was filled with the crowd chanting, “We want Lillard! We want Lillard!”

As amazing as it sounded, Lillard completely dismissed it after the game. He said, “I’m a Trail Blazer … I’m ten toes in Rip City.” This only goes to show how serious he is about sticking around.

Chauncy Billups also caught whispering something

Although this huge event obviously caught everyone’s attention, the more intriguing part of it all was Chauncey Billups’ perfectly timed, “So do we!” It couldn’t get any better than this.

Unlike most seasons, Dame hasn’t had the fiery start that’s expected of him. He is averaging only 18.3 points per game, shooting 23% from the arc, and 34% from the field. This is definitely a career-low for the decade-old Blazers star. But let’s give him the benefit of the doubt since it has only been seven games since the season began.

The Blazers have a 3-4 record in the Western Conference after their loss to the Sixers. They are up against the Cleveland Cavaliers next, as fans hope that they catch up on their wins before it’s too late.
