Mariah Carey is a talented singer, songwriter, producer, actress and author – but there is one song that she will always be remembered for.

She is the self-confessed queen of Christmas, and has released not one but two albums dedicated to getting festive – with a new Yuletide single on the horizon.

One song from her first Christmas album, Merry Christmas, is All I Want for Christmas Is You.

You know the song. We all know the song. And last year, the song hit Number One in the UK charts for the first time, 16 years after its first release.

With the song still breaking records over a decade on, it’s fair to assume Mariah is still reaping in the royalties from the song. How much has the song made MC?

Does Mariah Carey still get paid for All I Want For Christmas Is You?

Mariah may have been belting out All I Want for Christmas Is You since the song was first released in 1994, but the star is still doing well from her 90s festive hit.

According to Business Insider, by 2018, All I Want for Christmas Is You had grossed Mariah a staggering $60 million (around £43.9 million) since its first release.

Although the exact figure that Mariah makes every year from the royalties of her iconic Christmas song are kept private, it is thought that in the UK alone she makes about £380,000 annually from the tune.

The 52-year-old singer also receives thousands of dollars every year from streaming services such as Spotify, for every time that the hit is played through their platform.

So, in short, yes, Mariah most certainly does still get paid for All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Mariah, who is mum to twins Moroccan and Monroe, has an estimated net worth of around £234 million.

Mariah will be hoping for another Christmas classic with the release of her new single – Fall In Love At Christmas – featuring Khalid and gospel singer Kirk Franklin, set to be released on November 5.

Still, what would Christmas be without some disappointment – despite bagging her millions, All I Want for Christmas Is You was also voted the most overrated Christmas song, tying The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York.

With tens of millions in the bank from it, we can’t imagine that will ruin Mariah’s Christmas too much, though.
