Joe Rogan blasts Aussie vaccine ‘ad’ for ‘dumb propaganda’, fails to realise it’s a TV sketch

Joe Rogan may have wanted to check the sources on this one.
The podcaster called out Australia’s ‘propaganda’ by sharing a pro-vaccine advert – only to realise it wasn’t a real ad, but a sketch from a show about advertising.
Awks.
Joe, 54, reposted an ‘ad’ in which he was name-checked, which told Aussies: ‘Science has our backs, get the vax.’
The video saw a man on the floor in anaphylactic shock, while a woman attempted to use an Epipen on him to save his life.
However, the man stopped her and said: ‘Wait, what brand Epipen is it? What’s in it? How long was it researched for? What are the stats from Europe? What does Joe Rogan say? Call Joe.’
He then keeled over, while a voiceover said: ‘We don’t question the science when our life depends on it, so why do we question it when millions of lives depend on it?’
Joe posted it on Instagram to his 13.4million followers with the caption: ‘Not only has Australia had the worst reaction to the pandemic with dystopian, police-state measures that are truly inconceivable to the rest of the civilized world, but they also have the absolute dumbest propaganda.’
However, if he had have done some research – or even noticed the watermark reading ‘Gruen’ in the left hand corner – he’d have realised earlier that this isn’t a government sanctioned ad.
ABC series Gruen examines the advertising industry through various segments including The Pitch, where advertising agencies are tasked with producing a mock ad for a product or cause.
Kate Holdsworth, who was behind the fake ad, tweeted: ‘When I wrote Joe Rogan into the @papermoose pro-vaccine ad for @GruenHQ, we could only hope he’d think it was real and share it with his 13 million followers.’

Vice Australia writer Brad Esposito added: ‘Holy s*** joe rogan shared a fake Gruen ad lol
Joe later discovered the truth, and has since updated his caption to read: ‘EDIT: apparently this is not a real ad. It’s from a satirical show.’
The mix-up is quite ironic, considering Joe has been accused of spreading misinformation on his colossal podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, believed to have around 11million listeners per episode,
He has been very critical of Australia’s tactics to stop the outbreak of Covid-19, previously saying on an episode: ‘There’s some crazy s*** going on right now, where the army is trying to keep people inside in Australia.

‘They have full-on government lockdowns where the government is flying helicopters over streets saying “go back indoors, you’re not allowed outside”.’
Australia, with a population of around 25million, has recorded nearly 170,000 cases of Covid-19 and 1,722 deaths, while America, with a population of 333million, has recorded nearly 46million positive cases and over 745,000 deaths.
Joe has also claimed that 21-year-olds shouldn’t be vaccinated and hit out at Covid passports – before testing positive for the virus himself.
The star decided to treat himself with ivermectin, a livestock deworming medicine that the US Food and Drug Administration has warned is an unsafe treatment for Covid, to ‘throw the kitchen sink’ at the virus.
In fairness to Joe, he previously expressed that he is not a doctor and is ‘a f***ing moron’, admitting he is ‘not a respected source of information’.
