Lewis Hamilton Steals the Show Alongside Kim Kardashian as He Bags Prestigious WSJ Magazine Innovator Award 2021

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most critically acclaimed drivers in Formula One history. The British legend has won everything there is to win on the track. However, he has now tasted success in his off-track endeavors as well.

The Wall Street Journal Magazine awarded the 7-time world champion the Sports Innovator award for the year 2021. Last week, the magazine had released its latest edition with Hamilton on the cover.

Despite all his achievements off the track, the Brit is not the most liked driver by the fans. Many fans have disagreed with his opinions and how he chooses to express them. Moreover, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff stated Hamilton polarizes people.

I think Lewis Hamilton isn’t regarded as well here as he should be: Wolff

As reported by Express. co. UK, the Austrian stated that the Mercedes driver’s extravagance does not fit well with many of the sport’s fans. Wolff explains why his charge polarizes opinions in the world.

“I think Lewis isn’t regarded as well here as he should be, but for many reasons,” said Wolff.

“He had a lot of success immediately with McLaren, and the story of his earlier life, the financial struggles, the racism he was exposed to, is not something that was ever in the public eye. People didn’t see that. What they saw was a young man coming into Formula 1 and being successful from the get-go.”

“And because he is also an extravagant person that polarises further. People can’t cope with it. But I think, more importantly, all of us lose more than we win, every day, and it is very difficult than for people to cope with a person they think has it all, who wins all the time. The more you win, the more people cheer for the underdog,” said Wolff.

It is unique in the world of motorsports to see someone get as much success off the track as Lewis Hamilton has. It just proves that Lewis is a winner both on and off the track.
