Mark Wright has removed photos of his controversial Halloween costume after dressing up as US rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who has been convicted of a child sex crime.

The Towie star, 34, instantly came under fire from fans when he proudly unveiled his outfit on Instagram over the weekend, with many unimpressed over his decision.

He later apologised over the look, but has now deleted the pictures from his Instagram page.

His latest post on the platform now appears to be a birthday tribute to his granddad that was shared before the backlash.

Mark revealed his costume on Saturday, and could be seen posing with the musician’s trademark tattoos and colourful hair.

‘Happy Halloween @6ix9ine,’ he captioned the post – which didn’t go down well in light of the Gooba rapper’s criminal past.

The presenter quickly removed all comments from his post, leading unimpressed followers to take their anger out on Twitter.

One fumed: ‘Really @MarkWright_  #halloween2021 #wrong #whatwereyouthinking.’

Another agreed: ‘Feel like this is a massive own goal by Mark Wright.’

‘@MarkWright_ turning his comments off on Instagram because he’s knows going as a 69 for Halloween is just wrong [sic],’ a user added.

Following the outrage, Mark spoke out over the comments in a statement, which read: ‘My apologies for last night’s Halloween picture. I only knew about Tekashi69’s music and not about his offences.

‘Had I known, it would not have been my choice of costume.’

6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, pleased guilty to a felony count of the use of a child in a sexual performance in 2015, after he posted three explicit videos involving a 13-year-old girl online.

Hernandez, who was 18 at the time of the crime, was sentenced to four years probation and 1,000 hours of community service as part of a plea deal.
