Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Peaty is feeling the pressure after landing in the dreaded dance-off at the weekend, revealing just how much it’s knocked his confidence.

Adam and his partner Katya Jones were hoping to climb up the leaderboard on Saturday night as they danced a spooky Viennese Waltz to Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven.

However, despite their best efforts, the pair ended up in the bottom two against Judi and Graziano Di Prima.

They luckily managed to make it through to dance another day, but Olympic champion Adam, 26, told fans the experience had hit him a bit, joking that he is a ‘bad dancer now’.

On Monday, he updated fans on how they were getting on in training ahead of their next routine, posting on Instagram: ‘We’ve only done a couple of hours of Jive today.

‘I’ve had to work today but it’s going well, we’ve cleared up a lot of stuff this early in the week and we can build on this, but the Jive – as fun as it is – is ‘Jiving’ me mad!’

Katya weighed in, addressing Sunday night’s results: ‘But hey, the dance-off. You came in with really low confidence today, I was surprised.’

‘Yeah, it did hit me actually,’ Adam told her, surprising his partner as she asked: ‘Did it?’

‘Yeah, because it’s like, I’m a bad dancer now. You know what I mean?’ he joked.

But Katya quickly gave him a confidence boost, replying: ‘No! You’re not a bad dancer.’

On the night, the pro dancer was full of praise for the swimmer when they joined Claudia Winkleman in her interview room, telling him: ‘I just want to say to you – I think you’ve improved immensely.

‘You’ve done amazing and it was a pleasure to dance with you, honestly. He really has done so so well, I’m so proud of you.’
