Tennessee Titans Sign Future Hall of Famer to Replace Derrick Henry For the Season

Tennessee Titans lost star running back Derrick Henry to an expected season-ending foot injury against the divisional rivals Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. And losing a player like him was nothing less than a nightmare to them.

Derrick Henry was leading the league with 937 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns this season and losing him has created an enormous void in the Titans’ offense. And so to fill the void, the franchise signed in veteran free agent running back Adrian Peterson.

Adrian Peterson fills in the RB void

Peterson last played for the Detroit Lions in 2020, where he registered 604 yards and seven touchdowns on 3.9 yards per carry, including catching 12 passes for 101 yards. However, he was certainly the best running backs in his prime during his 10 seasons stay with the Minnesota Vikings.

Peterson has a very impressive resume as during his time with the Vikings, the RB made it to the Pro Bowl and became All-Pro seven times. He was also the MVP in 2012 and led the league in rushing three times.

However, the Vikings vaguely declined to extend his contract option in 2017 and since then the Pro Bowler has given brief stints to the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints and Washington Football Team and then finally to the Detroit Lions last season.

Tennessee Titans in the absence of Derrick Henry

Tennessee Titans have signed the 36-year-old in the practice squad but intend to elevate him up the 53 man roster after testing the veteran well. Peterson filling in Derrick Henry’s shoes is going to be one monumental task for him. As of now, the 6-2 up Titans have overwhelmingly depended on the 6’3, 247 lbs beast Henry.

Derrick Henry, who is reportedly diagnosed with a Jones fracture on his right foot, will go through surgery and the recovery can take as long as the season goes. However, he can also return within 6-8 weeks, but until then, the reins of the running back spot will be in the hands of Adrian Peterson.

The 6-2 Titans will go up against the 7-1 Los Angeles Rams in their next week fixture, and it will be quite a treat to watch the newly gained RB go against one of the best teams in the season so far.
