‘F**king Narratives’: Former Teammate Backs Scottie Pippen Over Disrespect in Michael Jordan’s Last Dance Docuseries

When we hear of legendary duos, many come to mind. However, only a few were special in terms of their success and what they did for the league. One was Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen with the Chicago Bulls. While one would expect these two to have a good relationship, that does not seem to be the case. Especially, after the release of the ‘Last Dance’ documentary, all the controversy came pouring in.

To the public eye, Jordan’s documentary was an absolute masterpiece. It covered the entire history of the Chicago Bulls and how they approached their last season together. It was all good within the initial time of its release. However, when his teammates, Pippen went on a media run to promote his brands, things started to come out.

Pippen received a lot of criticism for trying to attack Michael Jordan on several occasions. But, it seems like he wasn’t the only one with similar views. In Pippen’s recent interview with GQ, he spoke about another teammate who checked up on him after the ‘Last Dance’ came out.

Scottie Pippen not alone

While speaking to GQ, Pippen spoke about how the ‘Last Dance’ was all about glorifying Jordan. His teammates were not given enough respect throughout the documentary. He also revealed that many of his former teammates also felt disrespected.

With Pippen, he was made to look a side character in the documentary. While most didn’t see anything wrong, Pippen was not on the same page. He felt extremely with the way he was portrayed. Jordan himself spoke to him about this issue. However, Pippen wasn’t the only one who had the same feelings. Even former teammate John Paxson, who he didn’t speak to often spoke to Pippen over the disrespect.

Scottie Pippen narrated: “Michael Reinsdorf [Jerry’s son, who runs the franchise] gave me your number. Just want you to know I respected everything about you as a teammate. F**king narratives can be told but I rely on my real experiences. Watched you grow from a rook…to a pro. Dont let others, including the media, define you. You are successful and valued and I have always felt lucky to be your teammate.”

Many felt disrespected by Jordan’s documentary and it seems to be fair on their part. While it was a documentary over the Bulls, its primary focus was Jordan and how he made the Chicago Bulls as great as they were. Looking at this, do you agree with Scottie Pippen?
