Good Morning Britain viewers have threatened to ‘switch off’ as Richard Madeley faced a backlash following reports that he’s set to ‘replace’ Piers Morgan.
Richard has been one of the stars co-hosting the series alongside Susanna Reid following Piers’ exit earlier this year.
It was reported that he has officially signed up to anchor GMB for good, in a deal thought to be worth £300,000.
According to the Sun, he will be taking up the permanent seat after his rumoured stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
Richard has since spoken about the reports on today’s instalment of the show, and while he remained tightlipped on the details, he said: ‘I am going to be doing the show down the line along with lots of other people. I’m part of the team.’
Viewers on social media have been reacting, with some voicing their displeasure over reports that Richard is set to host full time.
‘Richard madeley is a bad choice of presenter! He is awful!’ one wrote, adding: ‘@SkyNews here I come!’
‘Richard Madeley the bottom of the barrel has been well and truly scrapped,’ another said.
‘I’m out! Richard Madeley presenting #GMB full time is not for me,’ a Twitter user wrote, while another added: ‘Richard Madeley becoming a permanent presenter. Thanks for the memories but I’ll be now going over to #BBCBreakfast.’

His words come after an insider claimed that he has agreed to a deal after impressing bosses with his temporary stint on the panel.
‘Richard has always maintained he would never do GMB full-time, as he loves his life as it is,’ they said. ’But as the weeks have gone by, and he’s proven a constant hit with viewers, he’s really got into his stride and has been enjoying it more and more.

‘After a couple of meetings with ITV bosses, he was offered a full-time contract. And after consulting with his family, especially wife Judy, he decided “sod it” — and to go for it.’
The source added: ‘Officially they are still casting around for another potential full-time team member — hopefully another star name — so as to give the show a fresh new feel in 2022.’
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
