Noel Fielding has been a pure delight since he joined The Great British Bake Off in 2017, balancing his light-hearted humour with comforting words for the bakers when they’re stressing out in the tent.

However, in last night’s episode, the comedian decided to take a more ‘savage’ approach to entertaining the masses, coming up with descriptions for the contestants that left fans in hysterics.

While the bakers busied themselves at their stations for Caramel Week, Noel explained to the camera that he was ‘going to sum up the bakers in a very concise way’.

First up was Giuseppe, who the Mighty Boosh star described as ‘Al Pacino if he was on the Guess Who board’, leaving the two-time Star Baker looking utterly bewildered.

Next was Chigs, who Noel summarised as ‘lumberjack Robert De Niro serial killer’.

‘Wow,’ Chigs responded. We’re not sure we’d know how to react either!

Jürgen’s description was one of the most inventive, as Noel said he was like ‘the main puppe tin the Labyrinth mixed with League of Gentlemen’, which several viewers gathered was a reference to the character Herr Lipp from the sitcom.

After Jürgen turned blankly to the camera in a state of confusion, Noel delivered his last quip, saying that Lizzie looked like ‘Princess Leia dressed as a children’s bullfighter’.

As he walked away from Lizzie chuckling, she told him: ‘Don’t ever come over here again! That’s it!’

‘That’s it. My work’s done. They all hate me now,’ Noel added.

While the segment unfortunately didn’t feature commentary from Noel on George or Crystelle, fans in fits of laughter over the presenter ‘burning’ the bakers.

‘Holy s**t Noel has absolutely murdered Jurgen with the League of Gentlemen comparison. Properly savage,’ one person tweeted.

‘”Lumberjack Robert DeNiro Serial Killer.” Oh, Noel. You slay me,’ another remarked.

Someone else said that in their opinion, Noel’s descriptions of Giuseppe and Jürgen in particular were ‘the highlight of the episode’.

‘Wifey has not still stopped laughing at the Jürgen/Hoggle from Labyrinth line from Noel,’ one viewer shared.

‘Did Noel just say Jurgen looks like Hoggle crossed with League of gentlemen? Seems harsh,’ someone else wrote alongside a cry-laughing emoji.

When Noel first started co-presenting Bake Off, he was joined by QI host Sandi Toksvig.

Sandi stepped down from the role in 2020, when she was replaced by Matt Lucas.

Last night saw George become the latest baker to be eliminated from the competition ahead of Free-From Week.
