Green-fingered gran, 82, trims hedge into shape of her favourite brew

Betty Shaw, 82 — who has practised topiary for almost 45 years — carefully shaped a teapot’s handle, lid and spout into the leaves.

The retired NHS worker’s design rivals some of the finest in the country and often puts her neighbours in Shipley, West Yorks, in the mood for a cuppa.

Betty said: “I enjoy seeing people smile as they pass by.

“I’m a Yorkshire woman and I just love my tea.”
