“I Knew I Was Going to Get Fu***d Up”- Kamaru Usman Reveals Why Colby Covington Quit in Their First Fight at UFC 245
Kamaru Usman is arguably one of the best fighters to ever fight in the UFC. Ever since ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ made his UFC debut in 2015, he has been unstoppable. Usman is the current welterweight champion and sits atop the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings.
Usman’s journey to the summit of the division has been extremely impressive. In his rise to the top, no fighter has given him equal competition. However, when he faced Colby Covington, it wasn’t as easy as it had always been for him.
When they last fought at UFC 245, Kamaru won by technical knockout after a tense and gritty fight. It was, without a doubt, one of Usman’s most challenging contests.
In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, Colby Covington addressed the rumors that were going around about his broken jaw after UFC 245. He said,” It definitely wasn’t broken. He landed a clean strike, it was a good strike, but it was not a broken jaw. I’m tougher than anybody, I can endure anything.”
In response to this, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ commented on ESPN MMA’s Instagram post. The comment read, “What you meant to say is…I was feeling weakness. I wanted a way out, knew I was going to get f—ed up even worse. So I wanted my coaches to stop the fight and save my life.”

The feud between these two does not appear to be over. The adversaries have been taking digs at each other since their battle at UFC 245. This weekend, they will try to settle the dispute at UFC 268.
Kamaru Usman is getting close to Anderson Silva’s win streak
Kamaru Usman has been dominant throughout his entire UFC career. The champion is currently on a brilliant 18 fight win streak in his professional fighting career. In the UFC, the Nigerian has bagged 14 wins in a row. The list of names he has beaten includes top fighters in the promotion- Jorge Masvidal, Tyron Woodley, and Demian Maia.

Usman is the only fighter apart from Anderson ‘The Spider‘ Silva to accomplish a winning streak of over 14 fights in the UFC.
Silva currently holds the record of having the longest win streak in the promotion (16 wins). The Nigerian is only three fights away from breaking this record. A win for him at UFC 268 will mean that he is one step closer to greatness.
