Mick Schumacher Reveals the Sweet Backstory of His First Meeting With Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel has achieved a lot of success since his Formula 1 debut in 2007. From racing alongside his idol, Michael Schumacher, to now racing alongside his idol’s son, Mick Schumacher, Vettel has come a long way.

But 2021 isn’t the first time the young Schumacher and Vettel have been part of a ‘game’.

As reported by F1 Insider, Schumacher recalled the first time he met Vettel.

“My first memory of Sebastian was when I went on vacation with my family. He and his girlfriend accompanied us on the plane back then because we had the same goal. We played Angry Birds on his iPad.” (Translated via Google Translate)

One can assume that along with Angry Birds, meeting the then two-time world champion Sebastian Vettel must’ve fueled Mick Schumacher’s dreams of driving an F1 car.

But Vettel, too, must’ve looked at the elder Schumacher and taken tips on how to turn two into three, which he did, and took it until four.

In this season, Sebastian Vettel has taken on a similar role towards Mick Schumacher, which his father Michael took towards a young Vettel.

The 34-year-old German is acting as a mentor to his young compatriot.

Vettel and Schumacher in similar but different circumstances

Despite the differences in their experiences in F1, the two German drivers are currently going through a similar phase in their respective teams.

Both the drivers are adjusting to their new cars.

Vettel in Aston Martin and Schumacher in the Haas have both shown promise in their own ways this season.

They would both want to straighten out their inconsistencies and start delivering soon, but for different reasons; one would want to end a bad patch while the other would want to find his feet.

Regardless, both Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher are at interesting points in their respective careers, one with an illustrious career behind him and one with a bright future ahead of him.
