Caleb Plant Doubts Whether Canelo Has Improved Since Mayweather and GGG Fights

Caleb Plant is ready to prove a point when he steps up to face Canelo Alvarez in the maiden undisputed super middleweight championship at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on November 6. The unbeaten world champion has been looked down upon by several analysts and is still the underdog in the mega-fight.

Plant, however, seems unfazed by all the drama going around. He has shown very little respect towards Alvarez’s mighty resume and has claimed to land an upset on fight night. Referring to some of Alvarez’s hardest-fought battles, ‘Sweethands’ pinpointed why his Mexican opposition isn’t invincible.

In a chat with FightHype.com, Plant said, “Since those fights that he has had trouble with, who has he fought to prove that he no longer has trouble with that.”

If we talk about Canelo Alvarez‘s toughest fights, Gennady Golovkin, Erislandy Lara, and Floyd Mayweather clearly make up to the list. Mayweather handed Alvarez his sole career loss back in 2013, while the other two also chimed in for a tough call. Although Alvarez seems to have evolved brilliantly since then, Plant may use those fights as a blueprint for his success.

The undefeated IBF champion has been flawless in his career so far. While he shall also defend his unbeaten tag alongside the IBF belt, Plant is on the brink of a career-defining phase that can turn him into a superstar. That said, he claimed to have talked with Floyd Mayweather ahead of facing Canelo Alvarez.
