Phoenix Raceway: How Many NASCAR Fans Will be There in Attendance for This Championship Finale?
After several months of great racing, it all comes down to this final race. The battle is between Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr. Without a doubt, this promises to be an epic showdown, as four of the best drivers duke it out. Naturally, the Phoenix Raceway officials want to see the grandstands filled, so that fans experience this dogfight.
Last month, Phoenix Raceway announced that they have sold out the tickets for the season finale on November 7th. That means there will be 42,000 fans at the venue. Apparently, this is the earliest that the track has experienced a sellout before a race.
According to Phoenix Raceway president Julie Giese,“I think this says a ton about our fans. It’s exciting coming off of last year’s race, where we only had a limited capacity, and we were well on our way to a sellout then, too. I’m really happy for our team and proud of our team. And most of all, I’m happy that we’ll see all of our fans back with us.”
What lies ahead for the fans ahead of the Phoenix Raceway event?
This weekend’s race is the second consecutive year that all three series wrap up their season at Phoenix. Additionally, it will be the first race without COVID-enforced restrictions. Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in compliance with local health protocols, capacity was capped.

Last year, the Phoenix Raceway allowed a limited number of spectators, and they definitely got their money’s worth. This is because, they witnessed Sheldon Creed win the Truck Series and Austin Cindric win his first Xfinity title. Finally, they got to see Chase Elliott clinch a maiden Cup Series championship.
According to Giese, the support for the NASCAR race at Phoenix is as strong as ever, despite the pandemic. The track itself was inaugurated in 1988 and played host to 50 races in its tenure, including two per year since 2005. It is also worth mentioning that the mile-long oval has a seating capacity of nearly 51,000. The track also underwent a $178 million renovation in order to improve fan amenities and accessibility.
