“Together We Can Make a Great Impact”: Iga Swiatek Steps Up for Philanthropic Work

Iga Swiatek has certainly made name for herself after she lifted her maiden Grand Slam title at French Open 2020. Since then, she has been delivering some exceptional performances on the tour. Just a few weeks ago, she announced she’ll fund two non-profit organizations financially from her 3rd round prize money at BNP Paribas Open.

Finally, the Polish professional player has short-listed two organizations. She took to Instagram to pen down an important message regarding mental health. It seems like everyone is following the path of Naomi Osaka concerning mental health issues.

Iga Swiatek has an announcement to make

Just three weeks ago, Iga Swiatek announced that she’s looking for a non-profit organization for donations from the prize money she won at BNP Paribas. Swiatek has taken the initiative to arrange for funds and raise awareness regarding mental health illness. The former French Open winner has announced some optimistic news on the subject. Swiatek has finalized the two non-profit organizations she’ll fund.

She took Instagram to announce this news, and said, ” It’s the first time I commit a bigger amount of money to support a purpose that is relevant to me. World Mental Health Day, my win that day, Daria’s birthday, the fact that exactly one year ago I won a Grand Slam – impacted my decision. 50 k $ is a big amount of money in Polish reality, so, as a team, we decided to support two foundations with my prize money for the 3rd round in @bnpparibasopen (so 25k $ for each).”

Moreover, she added, ” Our aims are not only to provide them financial support but to appreciate their work in terms of education and raising awareness in the field of mental health, especially among children and teenagers. I’m publishing this post having in mind that it can raise awareness, as well. “

Lastly, she concluded by penning down an overwhelming message. She said, ” Thank you for your invaluable contribution to this choice. I hope that we will help together more than once in the future. Together we can make a great impact.”

Iga Swiatek has been very consistent throughout the 2021 season. Following this, she qualified for the WTA Tour Finals in Guadalajara, Mexico from 10th November 2021. This will be the 1st WTA tour finals of her career. What do you think, will the Pole be able to lift the big title at Mexico?
