The highly-anticipated second season of Tiger King is set to drop on Netflix in just a couple of weeks, with the streaming giant promising even more mayhem and madness to come.

Many viewers assumed the hit documentary series was over after season one ended with Joe Exotic’s arrest and imprisonment for trying to hire someone to kill animal rights activist and his longtime rival Carole Baskin.

However, Netflix surprised fans in September with the news that another chapter is on the cards because the original ‘only scratched the surface’.

So, when will Tiger King 2 be released and what’s it all about?

What will Tiger King season 2 be about?

As it currently stands, not much is known about what Tiger King 2 will be about as the one-minute trailer doesn’t give too much away.

At the end of the clip, Joe Exotic is seen in prison telling the camera: ‘This was about getting to the truth.’

Will Joe Exotic feature?

It remains to be seen just how much Exotic, real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, will star in the series given that he is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence for animal abuse charges and a murder-for-hire plot.

There is further doubt that the Tiger King himself will appear in the show as he is currently battling a severe case of cancer.

Updating fans on his official Instagram account, a message from Exotic said: ‘Everyone, It is with a sad face that I have to tell you the doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer, I am still waiting on the results from other test as well.

‘Right now I don’t want anyone’s pity and I’m sure Carole Will have her own party over this!’

Although he’s behind bars and is struggling with his health, it seems that Exotic will indeed appear in some form, as the trailer shows a brief snippet of footage of him on the phone in jail.

Carole Baskin, who shot to fame in the first series, will not feature in season two, either.

Following the news that a second season had been confirmed, the Big Cat Rescue sanctuary owner told Metro.co.uk that she doesn’t understand how it is being made, considering Joe, a convicted felon, is in prison.

‘I don’t know how they put out a Tiger King 2 when Joe’s in jail and I’m refusing to be played again,’ she said.

‘Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.’
