Pokémon’s Latest Announcement on TCG Live Set to Leave Fans in Dismay

As if the news of the Pokémon TCG online servers closing soon wasn’t enough, the devs have more upsetting news for the fans. In an announcement on November 4, the Pokémon Company revealed the open beta and mobile launch for their game has been delayed even further.

Pokémon TCG Live: A disappointing announcement

The developer/publisher took to Twitter to reveal the shift in the release. Fans in Canada can now expect to experience the Pokémon Trading Card Game Live mobile’s “soft launch” in 2022.

They tweeted, “To provide Trainers with a more polished experience, the Pokémon TCG Live mobile soft launch in Canada, and global open beta for desktop, have been shifted to 2022.

“We’ll have more to share soon on timing for both this testing period and the full launch of Pokémon TCG Live.”

Unfortunately, there are no specific windows for any of the launches. Until then, you can practice and develop your tactics on TCG Online. And hope to make the best out of it before it shuts down.

In addition to the reschedule statement, the devs had some positive news for the recipients of the limited TCG Live code cards.

Additionally, some of you may have recently received code cards with Pokémon TCG Live branding as part of some Pokémon TCG products. Though Pokémon TCG Live is not available at this time, please know these cards are still redeemable in Pokémon TCG Online.

Players who were lucky enough to get these limited cards can redeem them in TCG Online. And for those holding onto any code cards, unopened packs, and items, it might not be worth the wait.

“Additionally, some of you may have recently received code cards with Pokémon TCG Live branding as part of some Pokémon TCG products. Though Pokémon TCG Live is not available at this time, please know these cards are still redeemable in Pokémon TCG Online.”

TCG Online: a game on the verge of shutting down

The Pokémon Company previously announced that TCG Online will be “sunsetted prior to the launch of Pokemon TCG Live.” Even though the devs promise a flawless transition to the new game, it might not be as smooth as it sounds for some trainers.

Since TCG live will use Trainer Club accounts as well, players will be able to transfer all cards, card sleeves, deck boxes, and other accessories to the new game. However, your friends list, unopened packs, and items, your decks, in-game currency, and McDonald’s Happy Meal, and HeartGold & SoulSilver Series cards will not make the trip.

So, it is only logical to use them while TCG Online is still around.

Hopefully, the devs say true to their word and disclose the final testing period and full game launch of Pokémon TCG Live soon. Let us know what you think of the delay and TCG Online being shut down in the comments section.
