Over the years, the NBA has witnessed some absurd injuries. Thursday was one such instance, where one teammate ended up taking out another. In a bizarre occurrence, Duncan Robinson injured fellow Miami Heat compatriot Kyle Lowry. The guard exited the game early on, causing the Heat to squander a Q1 lead in a 78-95 loss to the Celtics. It was an incident that left fans both scared, and in splits at the same time.

The Miami Heat have gotten off to a great start this year. It looks like their ‘Heat Culture’ is finally paying dividends, as Erik Spoelstra’s men are off to a flyer. Currently sitting in 2nd, the side has overcome the likes of Luka Doncic’s Mavericks and Kevin Durant’s Nets. But this was not the case in their 8th game of the regular season, as a wounded Jaylen Brown spoiled the party. Lowry, who had an off night regardless, warmed the bench after Robinson hilariously took him out. Have a look.

Duncan Robinson injures Miami Heat teammate Kyle Lowry in absurd fashion
After a vibrant start, things began to unravel for the Miami Heat. Their guards were missing more shots than usual, leaving Jimmy Butler as the lone ranger. Right at the end of the third quarter, things went from bad to worse for the men in black and red. Duncan Robinson, who was having a pretty good evening till then, caused a massive scare in the Heat dugout. In an unfortunate circumstance, he took out Lowry’s ankle.

With about six seconds to go until the end of Q3, Butler and co. were on defensive duties. Robinson, who was guarding his man, flopped and tripped up. As the ball went out to the deep corner, the 27-year-old went sliding, and landed right on the ankle of a clueless Lowry. The 35-year-old All-star saw his left ankle take a bad hit, and hopped to the bench immediately after. He has reportedly sprained it. It was a bizarre sequence of events, following which Lowry sat the game out. For the Celtics, Brown also made way in the second half, but enough damage had been inflicted by then.
Kyle Lowry contributed for 6 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists on a rather disappointing night. The extent of his injury will determine his return. Let’s hope for the best, as the Heat desperately require his services to continue their positively enigmatic run!
