Wow! Blake Griffin Takes Cheap Shot at Detroit Pistons Fans After In-Game Brawl and Booing

The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Detroit Pistons twice in one week. However, their second win came in a rather close game that saw booing, altercations, and everything worth grabbing popcorn. And this time, the proceedings had a lot more to do with Blake Griffin than with the Nets’ star duo.

The High Griffinition came into the night after scoring in single figures since the beginning of the 2021-22 season. However, this game proved to be a game changer as he took a flight. But all of that came with loud friction from the fans and an angry play from the Oklahoma-born.

Blake Griffin against the Detroit Pistons fans

The #1 pick from NBA Draft 2009, Blake Griffin left the Clippers to join the Pistons in the 2017-18 mid-season. Thanks to him, the Pistons reached the 2018-19 playoffs where the 6’9” power forward played two earth-shattering games. However, the injuries never allowed him to deliver his best as the man soon took himself to Brooklyn.

Turns out the Detroit fans never liked that move. Plus, his continued altercations with the Pistons players further worsened the matters. So on October 5th, 2021, after his brief tangle with Isaiah Stewart, the fans decided to boo him as much as possible.

Later, in the post-game interview, Blake discussed this and reiterated that the fans boo at anyone who leaves the team.

Blake Griffin said he’s not surprised he got booed by Pistons fans: “I heard they booed Andre Drummond last night. And what did he do? He just got traded. So, no, not surprised.”

Well, Andre Drummond had spent eight seasons in Detroit as opposed to Blake’s two (complete) seasons.

How effective was the Brooklyn Nets’ center?

Blake Griffin did what he does best. He stood physical in his defense and extremely intimidating in his offense. As a result, this bad-boy of the Nets did not shy away from taking on Saddiq Bey and came effective in the closing minutes.

Apart from his crazy dunk, Blake made his presence felt by keeping his body on the line. With 45 seconds remaining, he stopped Saddiq from pulling off a layup with the Pistons trailing by just 3 points. No wonder why the Nets coach had praiseworthy words ready for his man.

Steve Nash: “We love Blake bringing that physicality – he’s somebody that we have come to rely on and he was great tonight.”
